A Message from Our Principal
Welcome. Thank you for visiting the website for Saint Joseph School, a United States Blue Ribbon School, 2010.
I hope this platform will serve as an informative portal for current students, parents, faculty, and staff, as well as an inviting site for first-time visitors interested in learning about our fantastic school. We maintain the highest standards for our students in all developmental realms and we collaborate to cultivate an environment for students to thrive spiritually, academically and socially. I hope that you will visit SJS soon, in person, to learn what makes our school such an incredible community.
Here at Saint Joseph School, our Catholic Identity is paramount: we look to Jesus and Saint Joseph as our role models, and follow The Archdiocese of New York's Value Infusion Program. Our SJS students are continuously involved in meaningful, hands-on service projects. Academically, data analysis demonstrates that our students continue to exceed expectations. Socially, we strive to inculcate a spirit of gratitude and excellence in behavior and decorum.
Father Peter McGeory, our beloved Pastor, appointed me as The Principal and Chief Executive Officer of SJS in August of 2018. In his letter to the SJS Community, he expressed confidence in my leadership abilities based on my extensive experience as an educator. My passion for education was sparked early on; when I was fourteen years old, I volunteered for The Archdiocese of New York's Hands for the Handicapped Program. I taught within the Catholic School System, and after decades of service in a variety of private and public schools, I am so happy to have come full-circle in my current role as an Administrator within the Archdiocese of New York.
As you will see when you visit SJS, our beautiful gem is nestled in the exquisite Village of Bronxville, New York. Thanks to the collaboration of our Parish Community, SJS has been blessed with many state-of-the-art features, designed to enhance our learning environment.
Our shared goal, ultimately, is to have each of our students be their personal best, and successful in all elements of their lives: spiritual, academic, and socially-emotionally. We strive to keep our traditions flourishing while we prepare our boys and girls to be productive men and women of the 21st Century.
We at SJS look forward to welcoming you to our community.
May God bless you and yours.
Mary Ellen DeMarzo-Sanchez, M. Ed.
